Abstract

The state of Connecticut doubled the offer, to $100 million, made by Maine and Vermont to the state of Texas to have the latter store low-level radioactive waste, but the respective amounts of waste to be generated convinced Texas to accept Maine and Vermont as compact partners while allowing the possibility of future additions to the compact. Connecticut generates five times the amount of low-level radioactive waste as Maine and Vermont combined.
