Abstract

A study by University of Maine researcher Kevin Boyle and Roy Bouchard of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection has concluded that Maine lakes with better water quality enhance the price of lakefront properties. The study looked at more than 500 properties on 22 lakes, and points to water quality as one of the most significant predictors of a lake property's value. Bodies of water examined in the study included China Lake, Tripp Pond, Sabattus Lake and Togus Pond.
