Abstract
The Whip & Spoon was started in Portland's Old Port in 1973 by Sonia and Jock Robertson. The Robertsons recently sold the store and a second one near the Maine Mall to Jack Lothridge, a Boston businessman and Portland native. The two stores had sales of around $3 million last year, a 15 percent increase over the previous year. Lothridge plans to open a third store in Maine or New Hampshire before Christmas 1997, and wants to develop more Whip & Spoon brand products.
