Abstract

Voters in Augusta and the Portland area this fall will decide whether to add fluoride to their drinking water. Opponents claim fluoride is responsible for a variety of negative health effects and impinges on their civil liberty. Lisa Nelson of Augusta distributes information linking fluoride to cancer and bone disease. Dr. James Ortengren, a South Portland dentist, supports fluoridation efforts, as does Judy Feinstein of the Maine Bureau of Health's Oral Health Division. Details.
