Abstract

The Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, the state's first public magnet school, is thriving and growing one year after its creation. The first year's enrollment of 135 students has grown to 170, with a waiting list of 25 students. The first seniors graduated from the two-year program in June, and of 81 students eligible to continue this year, only two have opted out of the program. This year's junior class is 57 percent female, as opposed to last year, when 62 percent of the first class was male. Details.
