Abstract

The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association is co-sponsoring Maine's first farming delegation to Cuba in January. A group of 25 to 30 farmers, scholars and students will travel to the island nation, and the tour is designed to provide Maine farmers with the opportunity to learn and share sustainable farming techniques. Richard Rudolph of Steep Falls, a professor of sustainable development at the University of Massachusetts, is spearheading the tour. The group is scheduled to visit agricultural cooperatives, farms, experimental stations and biocontrol factories, and meet with officials of the Cuban Association of Organic Farmers. Details.
