Abstract

Custom Stitching of Lewiston, owned and operated by Jane Theberge, has been in business more than 12 years, and at its peak employed 200 workers. The company received $850,000 in cash from the Finance Authority of Maine and several area agencies in November 1995. One potential buyer of the plant has offered to pay $50,000 of the $800,000 debt, and FAME might consider the offer if the buyer produced a plan showing commitment to keeping jobs in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
