Abstract

Black Hawk Mining next month will submit a preliminary application to the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for a gold and silver mine on Bald Mountain in Aroostook County. Philip Ahrens, an attorney for Black Hawk, said the company will move to overhaul the state's mining regulations. Catherine Varney of LURC said Black Hawk has completed all of the required baseline monitoring studies at Bald Mountain.
