Abstract
State representative Deborah Plowman, R-Hampden, has proposed legislation that would allow every town council in the state to veto local school budgets. In systems governed by regional school administrative districts, the measure would give local officials in one community control over the entire district's budget. Meanwhile, Gov. King remains convinced that additional state funding for local education must wait until the economy expands.
