Abstract

After more than seven years of planning, fundraising and renovations, Portland City Halls's Merrill Auditorium tonight will open its doors. The former Portland City Auditorium has been renamed for Paul and Virginia Merrill, who bequeathed a sum to the city for the renovations. The $9 million renovations include specially designed wooden acoustic shells, a sonic and lighting system, a spacious green room, a rigging system and a full-time box office. Details.
