Abstract

Details on last week's public hearing before the Maine Legislature's Taxation Committee. The committee voted unanimously to kill L.D. 1742, which would have provided a $20,000 property assessment exemption for landowners whose permanent residence is in Maine. The bill would have extended the sales tax to more goods and a variety of services, and was opposed by businesses.
