Abstract
"Continuum" piece on the sprawl that destroys downtowns and quality of life. Sprawl was cited as recurring problem in the Maine Environmental Priorities Project, and a conference on sprawl is planned. Several independent groups are searching for ways to protect farms by making them more economically viable, and a sustainable community experiment in the Farmington area is showing results.
