Abstract

A Kennebec County Superior Court judge has issued a temporary restraining order against the North Haven School Board, preventing the board from hiring a full-time principal to replace Barney Hallowell. Hallowell was fired from his position after a controversy surrounding his teaching methods. The School Watchdog Association, formed in part to back Hallowell, has withdrawn its lawsuit against school superintendent Laura Hickey, who has resigned, effective June 30. The Maine Department of Education last week issued a report sharply criticizing Hickey and the school board. Details.
