Abstract

Zond Development, a subsidiary of the energy giant Enron, purchased the development rights and other assets of the defunct Kenetech wind power project in the Boundary Mountains. Zond outbid Harley Lee of Endless Energy in bankruptcy court in California, in what Lee claims is retaliation for a suit filed against Zond by Endless Energy in 1995. Zond envisions a wind farm only one-third as large as the Kenetech project. Dan Soslund of the Conservation Law Foundation said he thinks that Zond might have to abide by mitigation and compensation agreements worked out with Kenetech, but Lee is unsure. Details.
