Abstract
Gun advocates are lobbying for LD 643, the state bill which would allow forest rangers to carry guns. The Maine Forest Service opposes the bill. Rangers, who have recently been granted two-thirds the pay of the Warden Service, feel that they could acheive total pay equity if they were armed as game wardens are; and they fear an increasingly violent population using the Maine woods.
