Abstract

The Maine Legislature's Judiciary Committee voted 12-1 against a measure that would provide physician-assisted suicide for the terminally ill. State representative Joseph Brooks, D-Winterport, the bill's sponsor, said he is preparing a series of amendments in advance of a vote by the full Legislature. Brooks is realistic about the bill's chances in the Legislature, but believes it will eventually become law.
