Abstract

The group Friends of Maine State Parks was formed last year, following the decision of Conservation Commissioner Ronald Lovaglio to merge the Bureau of Parks and Recreation with the Bureau of Public Lands. Bruce Farnham, supervisor of Mt. Blue State Park and new president of the Friends of Maine State Parks, said the group will advocate for the state parks in the Legislature. Herb Hartman, assistant director of the state Bureau of Parks and Lands, said he is unsure what to say about the new organization.
