Abstract

An exploration of the ways in which the Baxter Park Authority has, over time, compromised Percival Baxter's wish that the park be kept "forever wild." The 204,333 acre preserve was given to the state by former governor Percival Baxter, who wished it preserved as a wilderness area. (Second of a four-part series on the Baxter Park Authority.)
