Abstract

The Republican Party in Maine has a dearth of entry-level candidates for the Legislature, practically ensuring that they will continue their minority status in both houses. There has also been a historic mistrust among the state party, House Republicans, and Senate Republicans. Maine Republican party executive director Rick Tyler hopes some sensitive issue will come back to haunt the Democrats, since, at the moment, there is little motivation among voters to "throw the bums out."
