Abstract

A bill being considered in the Legislature would require permission for commercial use of the word "Passamaquoddy," but would not affect non-commercial uses such as place names. The bill, introduced by Rep. Madonna Soctomah, is in response to vendors peddling wares deceptively guised as products from the Passamaquoddy.
