Abstract

Editorial on Maine's Bureau of Parks and Lands new Allagash Wilderness Waterway management plan, and controversy over the use of John's Bridge at the head of Eagle Lake. The bridge was put off limits for public use in 1986, but enforcement is lax, and when Tim Caverly, a veteran waterway manager spoke out against the erosion of the rules, he was reprimanded by bureau director Tom Morrison.
