Abstract

A symposium on sustainability, sponsored by the Natural Resources Council of Maine and the Muskie Institute at the University of Southern Maine, was held at Bowdoin College, and the sense among many of the participants was that sustainability is a term in the proces of becoming. Much of the discussion focused on loosely defined ethical and even religious ideas.
