Abstract

An article about an unidentified woman in Newport, whose neighbor, Mary Thompson, filed a complaint because the woman was mowing her lawn while topless. Thompson asked the town to draft an ordinance against mowing topless. When the town refused, Thompson circulated a petition demanding that they reconsider. The woman, whose mother is Shirley Davis, has taken out a counter petition. Davis has a six-foot high hedge around her property, and her daughter has been mowing the lawn topless for several years with no complaint from residents. Davis hopes to appear on the Dave Letterman show.
