The sale of the Guy Gannett newspapers to The Seattle Times Co. last week is being touted as a perfect fit. Both the Gannett papers and the Times practice "public journalism" in which they organize community forums around local issues and report the dialogue as an incentive for decision-making. Both also practice advocacy journalism and have been accused of boosterism.
