Abstract
After a series of alleged rapes on the Bates college campus in Lewiston last spring, the college instituted new policies for orienting freshmen and dealing with sexual assaults. Some students still feel that reporting such crimes to the Lewiston Police Department might be more intimidating than keeping them a "school issue." A spokesman for the police department said he would not be surprised if the percentage of campus crimes reported to the police remains low.
