Robin Alden, former commissioner of the Maine Department of Marine Resources and a founder of the Commercial Fisheries News, looks at the productivity of the Gulf of Maine, which is one of the state's most valuable assets, and asks if Maine is any closer to sustainable use of its ecosystem now than it was 30 years ago.
