Abstract

Nearly 500 people from every county in Maine marched in heavy rain on Oct. 10, in the Maine Civil Rights March and Rally. According to organizers, about 300 walked the entire 10-mile route from Orono to Bangor. The march, which was the brainchild of the Rev. Sue Jamieson, pastor of Bangor's Unitarian Universalist Church, and parishioner Ron Hersom, was planned to protest the February repeal of the inclusion of sexual orientation in the Maine Human Rights Act.
