Abstract

The Cable Act of 1992 set an October 6 deadline for cable television companies and television stations to negotiate on transmitting network programming, but negotiations in southern Maine have come to a standstill. Public Cable Company and the local network affiliates are waging advertising campaigns to inform the public of the situation, and indications are that the cable war will continue past the mandated deadline.
