Abstract

Brief article reporting that the Bicycle Coalition of Maine is supporting Gov. Angus King's five cent gas tax proposal, but the coalition wants the Legislature to dedicate 1/7 of a cent of the nickel tax increase for paving road shoulders. According to the coalition, there are 900,000 bicycles in Maine and board member Harry Faust said, if King's estimate is right, 1/7 of a penny could raise $1 million a year for paving shoulders.
