Abstract

A billboard on Route 196 in Lewiston is apparently within the limits of Maine's billboard law because it advertises for Christ. A Maine Department of Transportation official said that section 1913-A of the billboard law allows signs bearing religious messages, and his office is powerless to act on the numerous phone calls it receives each year about such billboards.
