Abstract

A group of seven Maine newspapers published by Courier Publications of Rockland is being sold to American Consolidated Media (ACM) of Dallas, Texas. ACM Chairman Jeremy Halbreich said he expects little to change. In May, Halbreich purchased his first four newspapers, all in southwestern Colorado, with a circulation of less than 20,000. The Maine papers include the thrice-weekly Courier-Gazette in Rockland and six weeklies: The Bar Harbor Times, Camden Herald, Capital Weekly in Augusta, Ellsworth Weekly, Republican Journal in Belfast, and Lincoln County Weekly in Damariscotta. The Maine papers have a combined circulation of 55,000. Courier has 200 employees. Its production and printing operations are in Rockland.
