Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on DeLorme Publishing of Yarmouth, which recently pleaded guilty in a federal court in North Carolina to making fraudulent statements to the government. In a plea bargain agreement, DeLorme agreed to pay $780,000 in fines and cannot compete for government contracts for one year. At issue in the investigation conducted by the Defense Criminal Investigative Service was ownership of restricted government mapping data supplied to DeLorme by the Department of Defense (DoD) in 1987, which DeLorme later claimed as its own and sold back to the DoD and other federal agencies.
