Abstract

The Aroostook Water and Soil Management Board is investigating a complaint by St. Agatha farmers Ed and Lin Wilkinson, who say their neighbor's 175-horse power irrigation pump is extremely noisy and disturbing their peace. The dispute brings into question Maine's right-to-farm law, which was originally passed to protect farmers from encroaching suburbia and was never intended to settle matters between farmers.
