Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on the National Park Service's (NPS) decade-plus struggle to protect 3.5 miles of the Appalachian Trail on land owned by the Saddleback Ski Area. The debate has been framed as an economic issue with property rights activists, led by Chuck Cushman of the American Land Rights Association, claiming NPS is holding the ski area hostage. With four options now being considered by the NPS.
