Abstract

The Maine Turnpike Interchange Advisory Committe has suggested building more interchanges as a way to ease the traffic congestion affecting some Portland neighborhoods. Construction of the new interchanges would cost millions of dollars and require the filling of some wetlands, prompting one committee member to question the wisdom of new construction before a comprehensive transportation plan for Portland is completed.
