Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on the Saco Island condominiums where rotting timbers that were supposed to have been fixed have been discovered in at least six of the project's 90 units. Repairs involve bolting I-beams to either side of the weak timbers and typically cost up to $35,000 in each case with overall repairs estimated at as much as $1 million. Developer Gavin Ruotolo, who filed for bankruptcy before the $50 million project was complete, denies responsibility and shows no sympathy for condo owners.
