Abstract

Time Warner has extended Roadrunner, its cable-based, high speed Internet service, to Aroostook County at a cost of $5.5 million. This is the first time the company has made this service accessible outside of an urban area anywhere in the country. The service will be an economic inducement to businesses that might move to the area, according to Barry McCrum, Time Warner's vice president for government affairs, who lives in Presque Isle and is also president of Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development.
