Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on a amendment to the law requiring that all Maine school employees and teachers be fingerprinted for criminal background checks, which was sponsored by state senator Robert "Buddy" Murray, D-Bangor. Murray's amendment, which altered the language to give local school boards the choice to fingerprint transfers on an all-or-nothing basis, was passed by both houses of the Legislature. But Gov. Angus King may still veto the bill. Also with information about the supplemental budget compromise.
