Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on the ongoing discussions between the National Park Service and Saddleback Ski Resort concerning the protection of a 3.5-mile section of the Appalachian Trail, which runs across the mountain's summit. The office of U.S. senator Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, reported progress was being made, and Sen. Snowe told Maine Times that she does not want the conflict to turn into an eminent domain situation.
