Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on a new Bureau of Parks and Lands (BPL) Integrated Resource Policy that will guide recreational, wildlife and timber management on 400,000 acres of public reserved units and 90,000 acres of state parks and historic sites for the next 10 years. BPL Director Tom Morrison said, in effect, that adding a wilderness category to the final draft of the plan stands little chance. But environmentalists argue that none of the seven resource management categories in the document would fully protect wilderness values.
