Abstract

Editorial noting that the academic leaders of Colby, Bates and Bowdoin colleges say their institutions espouse diversity and meritocracy instead of the old plutocratic homogeneity, and have a special claim on educating leaders, while also noting that none of these colleges has chosen as its own leader a candidate who was not white and male.
