Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on a plan by The Widewater Group, a New York-based developer, to build a Wal-Mart supercenter next to Penjajawoc Marsh and near the Bangor Mall. The plan has been withdrawn in the face of high-profile resistance from environmentalists and others. Widewater announced the project last June, and immediately encountered organized resistance from Bangor Area Citizens Organized for Responsible Development.
