Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on an amendment to the Maine Bar Rules announced this month by the Maine Supreme Court that will require most of the 4,000-plus lawyers in Maine to get regular professional education as a condition of keeping their licenses. The rule exempts full-time judges and law-school teachers and some lawyers who are 65, if they have practiced law for 40 years. Maine is one of the last dozen or so states to make continuing legal education mandatory.
