Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on a new Department of Health and Human Services rule, effective this week, that will give the state's Medicaid patients access to Hospice services at an average reimbursement rate of $96 per person, per day, the same amount paid under the federal Medicare program. Kandyce Powell, executive director of Maine Hospice, said she is thankful for the rule, but she is disappointed with the amount of coverage. Most programs need between $115 and $130 a day to cover basic costs.
