Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on a proposal to locate a seasonal camp in the middle of a critical deer wintering area on the Little Black River. The Land Use Regulation Commission is set to approve the application, contending that a cabin would have minimal impact, if any, on deer use of the 3,400-acre yard. Robert Helgesen of Ft. Kent Mills bought the camp lease on just under one acre in 1999 from Irving Woodlands. Helgesen removed an old, unusable cabin from the site and now wants to replace it with a larger camp, a generator shed and a sewage disposal system.
