"News & Issues" piece on a legislative bill supported by the Maine Education Association that says Learning Results should be voluntary if the state doesn't provide the long-promised 55 percent of state school costs. Even with the current budget proposal, the state would still be at about a 44 percent share compared to what local districts pay. But the Department of Education strongly opposes tying funding to the Learning Results timeline.
