"News & Issues" piece on Richard Brown, 52, a Dallas telecommunications executive, who has purchased from Mead Oxford Corp. 20,000 acres of timberland that borders the northeast shore of Moosehead Lake. The tract, which includes most of East Middlesex Canal Grant Township, will continue to be managed for wood products and will not be broken up for house lots, according to Brown's spokesman and Augusta attorney Mike Gentile, who said Department of Conservation Commissioner Ron Lovaglio has already called to ask about easement opportunities. Brown will also continue the tradition of public recreation on the land, such as hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.
