Abstract

The new federal family-leave law will extend Maine's existing 10-week unpaid leave policy to 12 weeks. A work site loophole allowing corporations with hundreds of employees and multiple branch offices or stores to deny family leave requests if the branch has fewer than 25 employees would be deleted under a bill recently introduced in the Legislature.
