Abstract

"News" piece on the rejection of a new Wal-Mart supercenter by about 30 percent of Belfast's registered voters who voted 2-1 last week to limit new retail stores to 75,000 square feet. Fueling the controversial proposal were efforts of Belfast First, a group of about a dozen citizen sprawl-busters who wrote letters to local papers, published an informational brochure and keep pressure on the community to attend to the development issue.
