Abstract

"News" piece reporting that costs relating to moving four wildlife dioramas to the new tunnel between the Statehouse and the State Office Building will be nearly $1 million more than the $4 million that had been originally budgeted. The dioramas, created between 1958 and 1959 by Klir Beck, depict Maine's seasons with oil paintings as backdrops and with animals like stuffed moose, bear, rabbits, and porcupine in the foreground. Total costs of Statehouse and tunnel renovations will end up about $10 million over budget, totaling $34 to $35 million.
